When it comes to making decisions for the big day, it can become overwhelming, especially when it comes to choices like flowers. There are both pros and cons to fake and fresh, but where do you start? How do you decide what to pick to benefit the vision of your big day?
The average cost of weddings flowers can be anywhere from $700.00 to $5,000.00 per wedding. Finding ways to cut corners to keep costs low can help with keeping your budget in tact. Throughout the years, fake florals have come and gone in weddings trends. From feeling like the more practical option moving forward. Fresh has become more of the trendy choice amongst couples. But often people wonder where to start? What’s the best choice?
When it comes to choosing faux, there can be a lot of pros. For instance, you can often get both colour and the flower any time of year. Flowers have growing seasons and are easier to get at certain times of the year. So being able to get what you want no matter what can have a lot of appeal. In addition, they can handle the elements. A lot of flowers can be more challenging to get in the winter months. With the heavy snow and cold temperatures, flowers aren’t built to handle those conditions. Mixing in fake with fresh can often be a solution many florists will take so the client gets what they want! As well, fake florals are always appealing to those with floral allergies. Having the ability to have florals without sneezing on the big day, or having puffy eyes can be very appealing.
However, fresh also have several pros. For starters, the smell and touch of flowers have been proven to be a therapeutic touch to the day. Having something with fragrance such as fresh flowers can help calm the wedding day jitters, and bring you back down from the stresses of the day. I often as a wedding florist try to include florals with a calming smell that I know a client will enjoy. In addition, they often photograph really beautifully. Fake florals can photograph nicely as well, however, real flowers have details that fake don’t. This results in incredibly detailed photography that’s very eye catching.
Finally, contrary to belief, fresh florals are actually often much cheaper than fake. Buying flowers in their growing season is much more cost efficient. Fake florals are often very expensive, and trying to sell them after the big day is done isn’t always an easy task. Going to your florist with a colour palette and vibe you’d like to achieve for the wedding day often results with more success and cheaper costs than having specific flowers you desire.
At the end of the day, your wedding is whatever you want it to be, and the flowers you choose should compliment the day. Remember to trust your team, and they will guide you through every step of the way!
